
Pierre Buhler is an alumnus of the French business school HEC and of Sciences Po Paris (1977). He also holds degrees in law, applied economics, ethnology and Polish. He graduated in 1982 from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA, Paris).
He then served as a foreign service officer in the French ministry of foreign affairs until 2020, holding different posts in embassies, in Warsaw, Moscow, Washington DC and New York. He was appointed ambassador to Singapore and to Poland. He headed the French Institute, the agency for cultural diplomacy.
After having been seconded to teach, as adjunct professor, international relations at Sciences Po (2002-2006), he resumed teaching there in 2021. He currently also teaches at the College of Europe, Natolin (Poland). He authored several books and articles, all referenced on his personal webpage
