Hans-Jörg Lutzeyer

Dr. Hans-Jörg Lutzeyer was policy officer at the European Commission, DG Research and Innovation, Directorate B (Healthy Planet), responsible for food systems in the African Union – European Union research and innovation priority on “Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA)”, the Secretariat of the Standing Committee on Agricultural Research and the Horizon Europe Partnership on Sustainable Food Systems. Since April 2022 he is as active senior in an advisory function in these areas.

He studied agricultural sciences at the University of Hohenheim, Germany, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 1991. From 1993 to 1997 he worked at the Council of Tropical and Sub-tropical Agricultural Research in Bonn, Germany. From 1997 to 1998 he oversaw international cooperation at the EU-office of the German Science Ministry (BMBF). From 1999 to 2001 he coordinated European strategies of funding as Executive Secretary of the European Initiative of Agricultural Research for Development at the European Commission. Since then he worked in different functions as official at the European Commission.
