Jan Techau (*1972 in Lübeck, Germany) joined Eurasia Group as Director in charge of Germany in June 2023. Jan served twice in the German defense ministry, most recently as head of speechwriting from 2020 to 2023. He was Director of Carnegie Europe from 2011-2016 and held senior think tank positions at the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the German Council on Foreign Relations. In 2010, he served as Research Adviser at the NATO Defense College in Rome.
