Mehmet Altunbas
Internationale Arbeidsvereniging

Mehmet Altunbas holds the position of President at the International Labour Association (ILA) in Amsterdam. An educational foundation in Economics was built during his undergraduate years, which was later complemented by advanced studies in Management and Organization at the master’s level. He completed a tenure of over 15 years as a program manager in a public body and worked in Turkiye, Ukraine and the Netherlands.

Under Mehmet’s leadership, ILA has been distinguished as the most active Dutch NGO in the Erasmus+ arena and executed a vast array of international projects related to youth, vocational training, and adult education. These projects predominantly focused on the principles of circular economy and environmental sustainability. Elements like recycling, innovative waste solutions, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and water management were thoroughly examined across these initiatives. Further, these projects addressed crucial environmental concerns, such as carbon footprints, water pollution, global warming, and the necessity of organic farming. Additionally, issues related to environmental crimes and their broader impact on society and the economy were highlighted.

For Mehmet, the circular economy isn’t just a field of study or work; it’s a call to action. He believes that our planet’s future hinges on implementing sustainable practices, and he sees circularity as a key component of this vision. Through his studies, he aims to strike a balance between economic progress and environmental protection. His dedication to the cause is driven by the conviction that only through a circular approach can societies ensure a sustainable future for future generations.
